Experience the 1,500-acre country estate and magnificent former home of five generations of the Thompson family. Located in southwestern Ontario's charming rural Haldimand County. Grounds open daily; mansion tours by appointment
An historic home outside of Cayuga featuring beautiful grounds beside the Grand River and ample hiking trails. In the Spring Ruthven hosts a birding festival where birds are banded and lucky youngsters get to release them. There is also a wine and beer tent for Mom and Dad. There are also guided tours of the mansion by knowledgable volunteers. As with everything these days some things are not available due to Covid so it's best to contact them to avoid disappointment.

25 min drive away The property includes 598 hectares (1476.6 acres) on both sides of the river and an island with vast areas of slough forest and wetlands. Ruthven Park is located north of Cayuga along the banks of the Canadian Heritage Grand River adjacent to the ghost town of Indiana. The park includes 5 hiking trails. A 1845 Greek Revival 33 room villa, the focal point of the property, is enhanced by a simply designed, 19th-century picturesque landscape. As the mansion will remain closed for 2022 and in celebration of The Year Of The Garden, Ruthven Park is currently focusing on providing tours of our grounds and gardens.
