Auguste Bartholdi est né à Colmar. Il vécut dans la demeure qui aujourd'hui est un musée qui lui est dédié. son oeuvre majeur est sans conteste "La statue de la Liberté éclairant le Monde" Il est à l'origine de pas moins de 35 monuments célèbres à travers le monde, dont le célèbre Lion de Belfort.
