Picasso loved Arles. His passion for bullfighting will make him become friends with photographer Lucien Clergue, and then with the young curator of the Réattu Museum, Jean-Maurice Rouquette. In 1957, Picasso was invited to exhibit about sixty drawings, which he donated to the museum in 1971, in addition to the Portrait of Lee Miller in Arles (1937), painted just after Guernica. Augmented with engravings, archives, photographs and posters, the whole is called The Picasso of Arles.
