Best way to travel to the excellent beaches of Costa da Caparica, rent a bike and take the "Cacilheiro" ferry boat to Trafaria and you can take the bike on the ferry.

From this train station you can reach the both the beaches of Cascais (25min) and Carcavelos (15min) and the nightlife of Santos neighborhood (3min) and Cais do Sodré (5min)

Here you can catch the train east into Lisboa - Cais do Sodré (though for that I much prefer the TRAM 15) or west to Cascais (a great day trip). A boat ride to Trafaria - Porto Brandão also gives you a cheap unique view of Lisboa (the boat harbour is... go figure, near the river!, but the map does no allow me to put a location there! Just walk over the bridge to cross the road and train line and you'll be there
