It stretches 60 miles long on each side of the Missouri River. Great for walking, hiking, biking, skating, etc. Fun for the whole family!
The best way to experience Great Falls is by strolling along Rivers Edge Trail. The paved trail stretches almost 60 miles and follows the Missouri River on both sides.
Miles and miles of beautiful, paved walking paths along Great Fall’s finest feature: the Missouri River. Some of our favorite spots to park include: >> The caboose (1962-1998 River Dr N). From the caboose, walk northeast along this path as far as you like, and enjoy the sweeping views of the falls. >> Gibson Park (search “Gibson Park Trail”). Park near the statue or duck pond, take a loop, or follow the walking path under the railroad tracks to the river’s edge. >> Black Eagle Memorial Island (follow N River Rd until you find parking). This spot features a closer look at Montana’s first hydroelectric dam, for which Great Falls was nicknamed “Electric City.”
