Fantastic National Trust property with stunning gardens and working Watermill. Lovely tea room. A 3 minute drive from Dunkeld Cottage.
One of our favourite day trips. National Trust. Lovely gardens, a pond with newts, woodland walks and a decent cafe.
Situated close to Temple Sowerby this water mill dates back to 1597, and the famous walled garden is known for its colourful spring blooms, including daffodils and wood anemones and a sunken garden. Also a world famous collection of herbs.
The National Trust's Acorn Bank, Cumbria, is set in a lovely, quiet location and is known for its large herb collection and traditional fruit orchard. The gardens are well worth a visit as they have many medicinal and culinary herbs and then a walk through the grounds to the Watermill. There is also a pleasant cafe which serves drinks, light lunches, and refreshments.
