If you drive as far as Glenorchy take the time to go a bit further all the way round the lake to Kinloch. Great food and some great walks nearby.
30 mins from Glenorchy - delightful historic lakeside cafe/restaurant with home cooked cakes and meals ~ all done with Kiwi flair. Worth a stop after exploring the magic of Greenstone River/Track and head of the lake surrounds.
Serving great food is our passion! We take special care to create a regional cuisine that reflects the heritage and environment of Kinloch. Everything is sourced as locally and sustainably as possible; some of it's grown in our own organic veggie garden. We offer award-winning wines and boutique beers, as well as excellent coffee created with the glacial fed waters of our lake passed through UV filters. There's a deck with lake views for the warmer months and a cozy fire for those cooler nights. On the last Friday of the month we often have a jam night involving live music from locals and guests.

Across the lake (26kms by road) is a historic old lodge with a restaurant serving up delicious food, kayak trips in the summer, and a lovely walk in the woods by the lake. Great combination with Lake Rere or the Greenstone/Caples as it's on the way, or Glacier Burn which is 3kms up the road.
