Australia’s oldest museum, which we call ‘the dinosaur museum’ because there’s an enormous skeleton hanging from the ceiling, has so much to see and do. There’s a soft, squishy area for tiny ones to dress up and play as well as sections for older kids: from rooms full of dead bugs and taxidermy to an interactive ‘river’ where a crocodile or shark pops up. On a rainy day, arrive right when the museum opens at 9:30 am to make sure you get in, especially if you want to see a special exhibition. The Domain Car Park nearby has a $19 early-bird day rate if you’re in before 9:30 am and leave between 3:30 and 7 pm.

Just around the corner from the building you live at, discover the richness of life, the Earth and culture in Australia and the Pacific at Australia's first museum in Sydney.
Australia's first and finest museum - great collection of botany and animalia from early days of European Settlement PLUS regularly changing special exhibitions.
Dinosaurs, meteorites, Australia's oldest museum has expansive zoological and anthropological collections. It's also got a great restaurant with a harbour view on Level 4.
