An amazing beach in the south of Chania ideal for adventurers! You can access the beach after a small walk on the E4 path(bit dangerous, not for kids) or by boat from Chora Sfakion!
The name Glyka Nera means Sweet Waters. The beach is called like this because when someone digs a hole in the sand, sweet water appears from the ground. The beach is very beautiful and the water is pristine.
Take a taxi boat from chora sfakion (Sfakia harbour) that costs around 5-8e per person and you will be in a paradise !! the waters are fresh and crystal . The beach has also sweet waters that cames from the mountains, that's why the beach name is ''glyka nera'' ( sweet waters). You can also buy water and food from the taverna there !
Glyka Nera is a peaceful and unique place to swim. The fresh water, from the mountains, runs into the sea here and locals say the freshwater tastes sweet, and is drinkable, hence the local name “Sweet Water”. There are refreshment boats here which adds to its unique experience.
