Founded in the 1950's by the Miami Railroad Historical Society, the Gold Coast Railroad Museum has more than 30 antique railway cars.
Indoor/outdoor museum of historical train cars, offering tours of the old-fashioned interiors.
The Gold Coast Railroad Museum is dedicated to preserving, exhibiting, and operating historic equipment. It houses over 40 historic rail cars including Presidential Rail Car 'Ferdinand Magellan'. U.S. Car No.1 is the only private coach railroad car specifically designed for the president of the United States. The Pullman Company built the Ferdinand Magellan in 1928, and refurbished the car and presented it (dubbed U.S. Car No.1) to President Franklin D. Roosevelt on December 18, 1942. Both President Roosevelt and President Truman used the car extensively for state business, reelection campaigns, and personal trips. Founded in 1957, GCRM was built on the former Naval Air Station Richmond (NASR), the second largest WWII airship base in the United States.
