Bright, airy, modern spot with excellent drinks and bar snacks menu. One of the oldest pubs in New Zealand - it has been a licensed premise since 1840. Look out for the photo which shows the fishing boat parked up where a two lane road now exists. Yes that's right, before the 1848 earthquake which uplifted Wellington this was a port-side bar!
One of NZ's oldest public houses, quaint interior, great food and craft beers, close to Westpac Stadium.
If you ask the owner at the Thistle Inn he'll tell you that this was the publican house of choice for Te Rauparaha -- the hugely significant iwi chief in the 1800s. That should give you a sense for the heritage of this building, and its long-standing place in the history of Wellington. Great for a pint.
This is a very historical pub as it's Wellington's oldest, and has NZ longest continuing liquor license dating from 1865 or so. The food and service are excellent. If you mention you are from the Little Blue Penguin Studio in Breaker Bay and take the voucher you can get a complimentary platter
