Another day trip further afield. Approx. 1.45 mins by car. Miles and miles of sandy beaches. Bamburgh has a stunning castle and the village boasts excellent pubs and tearooms. Close to Seahouses to walk for fish and chips or drive back up the coast to Holy Island.
It is quintessential England especially when a cricket match is being played on the green in front of this stunning, iconic fortress! It became the home of the Victorian inventor William Armstrong. The man who built Cragside near Rothbury and the man who built The Hemmel in which you are staying as part of his once model farm!! Fancy that!
Situated in the quaint village of Bamburgh, Bamburgh Castle dominates the skyline, towering high above the expanding golden beach. Looking out to the sea, you’ll spot the Farne Islands, famous for puffins and seals along with other species. To see this wildlife up close you can even take a boat trip from Seahouses, just south of Bamburgh. Bamburgh and the local area also has a selection of fantastic pubs and restaurants.
