Miraflores Winery

Talk about a jewel in the middle of nowhere—this winery in Placerville is pretty spectacular. Their tasting room was made using giant beams of reclaimed wood from an old church, and it's beautiful. They've got a wide range of full-bodied, rustic mountain wines, and they always have a ton of bottles open every time I've been up there. Marco Capelli, the winemaker, is a sweet wine specialist. Be sure to ask him about the Botricelli.
