Hardangervidda is an area with many opportunities. If you drive to Geilo from Bergen (about four hours to drive), it is a good starting point to get up the mountain. There you can sleep in the car and go day trips on skis, or go hiking with skiis and tent for several days. Then we can recommend visiting the tourist cabin Tuva, with very good waffles. They often also have accommodation.

If you're not in Norway to see the museums and heritage sites, a walk in Norways largest National Park is highly recommended. You can walk for a day from Gvepseborg, the top station of Krossobanen, you can take the Fjellvåken ferry from Rjukan to the Mogen DNT cabin, stay there or walk to a viewpoint higher up (half an hour walk, nice for kids) or continue your journey across the Hardangervidda plateu. You can walk for everything from 2 days to a week or longer between thecabins across the National Park. You can find more information on the DNT website.
