Less crowded, more protected, great for kids, very spiritual beach! Awesome spot for turtles, too!

This is an ancient fish pond from the 1700's. There is a break wall that stops the waves so it is a fantastic place for small children to swim. It's always loaded with fish so snorkeling in this area is guaranteed fun!

This is right across the street! In a nutshell: Kalepolepo Beach Park is a historically significant Hawaiian fishpond and a quiet beach for those staying in the area. Minuses: Out of the way for the bulk of visitors staying further South. Sound-bite: "It's nice to have what feels like your own private beach." The grassy lawn has BBQs and picnic tables. Kalepolepo Beach Park is a small, family-friendly beach park in South Kihei on the Hawaiian island of Maui. The ancient fish pond was formed using lava rock, creating a shallow wading pool that has become popular for families with small children. Still, it remains one of the quietest of the 15 beaches in Kihei.

Family friendly beach - great for little kids because it’s protected by rock walls. Often turtles perched on the walls, but look closely because they really blend in!

A great beach to take young kids-- this is an historic fishpond with calm, shallow waters protected by a rock wall. Also a great place to see napping sea turtles (safely from a distance).
