Located in the Fanny Cochrane Methodist Church, this property is managed by the South East Tasmanian Aboriginal Corporation. Fanny Cochrane Smith was an amazing woman who was recognised by the Tasmanian government as the last Tasmanian Aboriginal in 1889. In the same year, recordings of her singing & speech were made on the new Edison wax cylinder phonograph. These are the only recordings of Tasmanian Aboriginal song and speech & can still be heard at the National Film & Sound Archive website www.aso.gov.au/titles/music/fanny-cochrane-smith-songs/clip1/#. Viewings of the space may be arranged by appointment. www.setac.org.au
