Not widely known until the TV series, Outlander, made it quite famous. From the road, you can see nothing with virtually no signposts and very few parking spaces, but off the road and 150 steps down, into a 70ft gorge reveals a stunning place to explore. Well worth a visit but remember that emergency services are sometimes called to rescue people. In 2017 the BBC was accused of putting lives at risk by promoting a 'dangerous gorge as one of the most "magical" and "fun" places to explore in Scotland.' (The Express, 27 Aug 2017) Note: even when it has been dry for 6 weeks, there are risks involved with wet surfaces on uneven steps, and rocks falling down the sides of the gorge.
