The 4.5-mile Salt Springs Run is considered one of the best paddle trails in the state. Be forewarned, though, that there is no take-out at the end, so you have to paddle back against the current. So, Don’t go too far if you’re not up to it! 🚣🏼
$25 to launch your boat into Salt Run. Local tip: many people launch their boat, anchor at the swim rope and swim into Salt Springs to enjoy the clear, cool spring water.
Wildlife sightseeing - maybe even manatee from October through March! Boat and canoe rentals available.
Located in the north end of the Ocala National Forest at the head of Salt Springs Run, where crystal clear water rises from ancient subterranean springs and flows about 5 miles before discharging into Lake George (St. Johns River). You can enjoy cruising the run and seeing the abundant wildlife and many species of flora and fauna along the way.
