Doclea was originally the name of the Roman city on the site of modern Podgorica (Ribnica), built by Roman Emperor Diocletian, who hailed from this region of Roman Dalmatia. Doclea was a medieval state which roughly encompassed the territories of present-day southeastern Montenegro, from the Bay of Kotor in the west to the Bojana river in the east, and to the sources of the Zeta and Moraca rivers in the north. It remains lay dawn in Podgorica surrounding only 15 minutes drive, or 40 minutes by walk and it's easily to find.

Doclea (also Dioclea or Diocleia) was a Roman city. The town was situated ca. 3 km north from present-day Podgorica. It was the largest settlement of the Docleatae, founded in the first decade of the 1st century AD. Doclea was built to conform to the terrain. It was a large town with 8–10,000 inhabitants
