Svanfoss water locks are a short drive (8km) from Breen and a beautiful place to visit. In 1876 the steamship D/S Vormen substituted the river rowers for transport missions between Årnes and Eidsvoll. The rowers had a very laborious and dangerous work on Vorma and Glomma through rapids and waterfalls, and the steamship had a very short season until a dam and the water locks at Svanfoss were built in 1910. The locks were closed in 1973, but were restored and reopened in 1993.
