On account of its strategic position in the Adriatic, and having been the first base of Tito's partisans during WWII, Vis was turned into a navy stronghold in Yugoslavia. Tito spent more than a billion dollars on military infrastructure here, including no less than 38 km of underground tunnels, submarine stations etc. The SUBMARINE TUNNEL in Rogacic is an obvious highlight.
