Neosho National Fish Hatchery is the oldest operating federal fish hatchery in the United States. Established in 1888, the hatchery is located in the Ozark Mountain Region of southwest Missouri. It is one of 70 hatcheries operated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with a mission to conserve and protect our nation’s fishery resources. The hatchery grounds remain open until 10:00 pm. The visitor center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m and Saturday/Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The hatchery is closed during all federal holidays. Please check online to verify the hatchery is open prior to visiting. Note: You can call ahead and reserve a tour with one of their fish biologists, which will allow you to enter their endangered pallid sturgeon buildings.
