A high point where the old gibbet still stands. An exposed, fresh walk that exudes far reaching views.
Park up on the Ridgeway and enjoy the great views north to Oxfordshire and south to Hampshire. Walk the Wayfarer's walk or drop down into the quiet villages of Combe or Inkpen. Very peaceful and a million miles from the City.
Stunning place 10 min drive from the cottage. Amazing walks and lovely picnic spots.
Head up to Inkpen and keep heading up the hill towards Faccombe (where the Jack Russell Pub is) and you'll find parking spots and a bridleway leading you to Combe Gibbet - the site of the last double hanging in Britain. There's even a replica gibbet at the top of the hill! The highest spot in this part of the country, you can see for miles on a clear day. It does get very windy though!
