The Durmitor National Park limestone massif spans 39,000 acres across north-western Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina. It was formed by glaciers and it is a place of extraordinary natural beauty and perfect for mountain biking. Tip: Take passports along, as drives can cross borders. Trekking, mountaineering, affordable Alpine and Nordic skiing, fishing and camping are great ways to experience Durmitor. The 150km-long Tara River that flows through the park offers some of the best water rapids anywhere in Europe. Trails are plentiful – the most famous being the day hike to the summit of Bobotov Kuk.

I would recommend staying at least one night so that you can make the most of the area. See the Tara Canyon where you can zip line across the Tara. The Black Lake is beautiful and ideal for walkers. Check out Savin Kuk the ski resort. Take a cable car up the mountain even in the summer.
