Santa Anita Park is a Thoroughbred racetrack in Arcadia, CA. It offers some of the prominent horse racing events in the United States during early fall, winter and in spring. Architect Gordon Kaufmann designed its various buildings in a combination of Colonial Revival and a type of art deco known as Streamline Modern, painted primarily in Santa Anita's signature colors of Persian Green and Chiffon Yellow. The Santa Anita Race Track was once used as an "assembly center" to house over 18,000 Americans of Japanese descent during World War II. When horse racing is not in session, it is home to the 626 Night Market that operates 10 years a year from May to September.
