Pretty much everything from this bus stop will take you to the center (just make sure you're on the right side of the road, same side with the pharmacy and a little grocery store).

Apollonkatu tram stop - you can take either tram 2 or 8. An easy and inexpensive sightseeing tour in Helsinki can be done by tram 2 and 3. The route passes many of the interesting sights. The entire route of trams 2 and 3 is a number-8 shaped loop so you can leave from Apollonkatu and eventually you will get back to where you started. That the tram changes the number half way, but you don't need to worry about that.
