Forest Park Museum was originally developed in the 1940s by Eugene Hastie, a local farmer, historian, and author. Mr. Hastie was a private collector of objects from Dallas County’s past and when local residents heard about his collection, they often donated objects of their own. In 1953, Mr. Hastie opened his museum to the public, so that others might see and learn from his large collection.
