Horsethief lake is a local favorite for many. It’s a wonderful place to go kayaking and paddle boarding, lake fishing and to generally take in the sun. A Washington State Adventure Pass is required for parking. While you’re here be sure to check out the pictographs which were relocated to this area for their protection with the guidance of local tribes.
GREAT for families! Picnic tables, grills, access to swimming - Discover Pass or $10 day pass required.
HORSETHIEF LAKE State Park: This family-pet-friendly park is probably the best for swimming and picnicking in the area. It's spacious and scenic with lots of picnic tables and clean facilities. Note: This is a state park, so "the man" requires a Discovery Parking Pass" which can be purchased at the Lyle Merc $30 and is good for ALL state parks in the Gorge. You can pay by the day, I think it's $5, but if you will around for a while it's worth it to buy the pass.
