The brochs are ancient constructions dating back to the iron age. Who built them, and their function is a mystery. Dun Telve broch and its neighbour, Dun Troddan, are some of the best preserved brochs in Scotland. A broch is an outstanding Iron Age drystone hollow-walled tower, found only in Scotland. Dun Telve is situated in the beautiful valley of Gleann Beag and is unusually close (500m) to another broch, Dun Troddan. The brochs are in an excellent state of preservation and are noteworthy for their scale, design and quality of build. Dun Telve is nearly 10m tall.
