Shelburne is a bit of a hike and it will take you all day to take in the museum, but it worth if you like history.
A completely unique museum- which is actually made up of a collection of buildings that each house exhibits of Americana and American-made artifacts. Complete with its own steam boat, the Ticonderoga, and a merry go round!
Great for the whole family. The Carousel and art cottage are fun for kids in the summer, as are the living history exhibits.
Shelburne Museum is a delightful way to spend a quiet day. Founded in 1947, it is a museum of art, design and Americana. There over 150,000 items in 39 exhibits - ranging from impressionist paintings by Claude Monet to the steamship Ticonderoga which was hauled up the hill from Lake Champlain to its current location. Many of the buildings were also moved here for display.. Enjoy wandering over the 45 acres surrounded by dozens of varied gardens.
