Styled like an old-school deli, but so much more, this bar-cum-bistro has an incredible cocktail menu and a shape-shifting wine list that embraces the local and farther afield alike. There’s a neat twist here, too—they got their hands on a retro canning machine and put up a variety of foods and cocktails, like the Mar-tinny, Cosmopoli-tin and Can-hattan. Mikey Nicolian is THE man behind the bar. Ask him about the off-menu, rare and unseen spirit collection, which is incredible, or for an exotic amaro.

Located just off King Street, opposite Newtown Station, this is a great place to enjoy a beautiful bottle of wine with share plates or enjoy a full meal in the dining area. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed but classic.
Good small platters and wine bar. Small, nice but a little on the expensive side.

Opened by two of the greatest restaurateurs Sydney has seen in recent times, Elvis Abrahanowicz and Joe Valore of Porteño, Gardel’s Bar and Bodega (which they co-own with Ben Milgate), and LP’s Quality Meats (which they co-own with Luke Powell), this is more than just a restaurant. At Continental in Newtown a downstairs deli opens at 11am and becomes a casual bar/restaurant as the later hours creep in, while upstairs there's a bistro for those fancier nights out.
