The quickest walking route into “true” Epping Forest is via Bell Common or Forest Side, near the Forest Gate Inn. For a shortcut that google maps won’t show you, walk out of Ashlyns Road, left at the postbox, left down Coronation Hill, straight on until you reach a housing development called the Arboretum. Keep going over the grassed area, until you pop out at Epping Forest Tennis Club. From here, you can navigate easily to the Forest Gate Inn, and entrance to forest paths via Forest Side.
