Food Scene
I LOVE this restaurant. Not only did I work there for many years, but it is high-end dining in a casual atmosphere. Fresh seafood, good steaks, full bar and classy. It can be pricey, but they now have a "half portion" menu if you want the experience without the pinch. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and they have been in business for 70+ years! They must be doing something right!

Arts & Culture
The Wright Brother's Memorial has a museum, gift shop, lots of walking paths, the memorial (in all its grandeur on the top of a hill), bronze sculptures/replicas of the plane, etc. There is a charge per person/car.

A little bit of everything. The outlets have covered walk ways, food and clean restrooms. And lots of benches with pretty views of the sound for the non-shoppers!

Essentials
This locally owned grocery store is in Manteo, and is a good quick stop for the basics. If you are looking for cheaper prices (at the expense of a drive to Nags Head), then I would recommend Food Lion in Nags Head.

Entertainment & Activities
We love this old theater! First, it's $7 to get in, and all treats are @$2. Show starts every night at 8 pm. It's downtown Manteo in an old theater house built in 1911. It seats 350 and is built in the Elizabethan Architecture, (and plays newer movies on modern equipment). The same family has owned and operated it since it's opening!! We like to bike down there - but take a light!!
You can also just stop in and buy popcorn, fresh sodas or candies. We do that a lot, too.
