Look up the Barton Creek Greenbelt online. This is one of many entrances to a 12 mile trail that extends from Zilker Park. It's completely protected...you won't even be able to tell that your within the city limits.

I called this a beach because it's essentially Austin's beach. Come here to swim in a natural springs that stays at a constant temperature of 68-70 degrees. There are big hills on either side to lay down your towel to catch some sun.
Admission is $4 per person.
Tip: Park on Robert E. Lee. There is a back entrance to Barton Springs. This entrance is also closer to the house.
