Great local restaurant with affordable prices, friendly service and homestyle cooking. While they offer breakfast lunch and dinner, we prefer breakfast.
Heads up...they do not accept credit cards...cash or check only. When your egg, bacon, pancake breakfast is only $4.50, it's not that inconvenient. Just something to remember.

Great Italian restaurant with charm. Food portions are large so go hungry! This is where we go when we want pasta rather than pizza. For pizza, we recommend Jaxson's on Depot Street. Closed on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday.

Great Sushi! Open 7 days a week until about 9:00 each night. Try the Spicy Salmon Roll or the Yummy Roll. We have not yet tried their Hibachi menu, so if you do, please let us know how it is!

WHERE SHADOWS WALK-Ghost Tours
This is one of the best 'ghost' tours I have ever been on. There are several tour themes to choose from. The guides are great storytellers and we always learn something new about the town's history. Suitable for kids, too!

This is a very hands on gem mine! Affordable kid friendly activity. Don't wear your best clothes, as you will most likely get a bit wet and a little dirty. You can either purchase a bucket of dirt already dug for you, or you can take the shovel and go scouting for gems on your own! I recommend digging your own. It is a good way to spend half a day and you get to bring your treasures home with you!! Kids and adults have a great time.

Don't let the name fool you. While it is technically an "antique" mall, you can find many very affordable treasures. The owner's, Eric and Sarah, are friendly and helpful. They changed my way of thinking about antique stores! Great place to browse, stroll down memory lane, pick up some unique gifts or buy something you once had and realized you should have kept! Open 7 days a week.

The Gilded Willow
117 Main StreetOne of my favorites on Main Street.
Many of the items at Shady Lane were purchased at the Attic! Vikki is super helpful and friendly! Be sure to try a piece of the banana bread she usually has set out for customers. YUM! The Attic is similar to Bryant's Antique Mall, but smaller and closer to Shady Lane.
If you go to the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, the Attic is right there next to it. You can park in the parking lot next door, walk up to Main Street (there are cut throughs) and stop to have a coffee or cocktail at Rathskeller. They are all adjacent to each other.
**Both Rathskeller and Attic are featured during the ghost tour, Where Shadows Walk! ***

If you do not have one, there is a discount card with the house key. This is the CLOSEST grocery store, but not the largest. The new Super Ingles will be completed this fall and will offer more selections. There is also a Super Walmart with many choices.

Free and easy to get to and great place for photos. The path down to the falls is paved and steps. You can walk behind the falls and to the other side. This is not a day long trip and does not take very long to walk down and back. We tend to stop here on our way to visit Highlands NC or when we go to Cliffside Lake Recreational Park.
**AVOID THE RESTROOMS IF AT ALL POSSIBLE** If you gotta go, it is worth it to drive two minutes back toward Franklin and use the restrooms at Cliffside Lake Park.

Great place to swim, fish, cook out and hike a trail. Small parking fee when you enter, I think around $5 per car for all day. Clean restrooms!
