There's a public canoe/kayak launch point on the island (turn right after the bridge). Other than during the Royal Henley Regatta and winter it's generally open. It's a good location for wildlife spotting (we've seen things like a beaver, ducks, swans, otters when out on the water).

In the winter, this is the closest place with great tobogganing for kids. Bundle up, though, it can get cold with the lake, and, the parking lot isn't necessarily plowed (snow tires are a good idea, or, bringing a shovel and being willing to ask for help with a push).

Food Scene
(This is the same building as Eata Pita; but, it's the Old Port Dairy Bar that I'm intending to write about and the map doesn't distinguish between them). They have some flavours that are a bit hard to find, such as Tiger Tiger. Also, in general, this is the part of Port Dalhousie that has all the restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc.

Arts & Culture
This museum has a lot of history for the area, especially the Welland Canal, world wars, etc. It's also the site of the Lacrosse Museum (and there's a little place in there where kids can try/play). This is a good place to watch the big ships go through Lock 3 on their journey between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie (check the schedule with @StCMuseum on Twitter or online). There is also a playground on site.
