Neighbourhoods
Fountainbridge
Fountainbridge is an up and coming area.
There is construction going on in the area (as there is all over Edinburgh) but this won't affect your visit at all.
There are shops, supermarkets, cafes, cinemas, restaurants and bars all within a 5-minute walk of our apartment.
This is an area of fun and entertainment.
Two, classic independent cinemas The Filmhouse and The Cameo are located here. Both cinemas play a part in the Edinburgh International Film Festival - and have nice bars too. The King’s Theatre is just along the road from the Cameo on Leven Street, the Usher Hall for all you theatre and festival lovers - all within walking distance.
The canal is 2 minutes from the apartment - lovely are with canal boats and with its Quay with an assortment of bars and food places.
Buses run all over the from either Fountainbridge itself, a quick walk down the Melvin Walk - running downside the Hampton by Hilton hotel, cross the road and get a number 22 (every 10 minutes) to the city centre and Ocean Terminal. Or walk less then 10 minutes to get an array of buses from Tollcross to every part of the city. Of walk, as most big sights are within walking distance of our apartment
