Breakfast is big, although they serve cocktails and more at this throwback, family friendly spot. While the patio is inviting, get a seat inside near the fireplace so you can check out the retro decor and toast your own toast at the table.

Amazing roasted Brussel sprout appetizers, excellent salads, plain Mac n cheese for the wee ones, and a full bar. Dinner with the family? You're covered. Lunch with a friend? Got it. Big breakfast while catching up on work? That, too. Take home a loaf of their famous zucchini bread.

The bright yellow hut across from the high school doesn't look like much, but walk up to the window and order the beef cheek tacos with everything and a horchata and settle into one of the outdoor tables and prepare for a quick, cheap, and delicious lunch. The service is super friendly.

It's small and French, so the coffee is terrific and the pastries divine. They also do dinner Thursday through Saturday nights, although I haven't tried it. They offer traditional French bistro fare without the snootiness.

There's a reason it's packed most clear nights. Getting a free shot at a powerful telescope draws the crowds of both locals and tourists. It didn't hurt that LaLa Land was filmed here.
