The Gonzmart family opened it's first Columbia restaurant in 1905...A Sarasota and Tampa landmark ever since!... known for their famous 1905 salad that I crave at least once a month! Spanish food at it's finest! I love their Spanish bean soup and chicken with yellow rice. Its fun to shop on the circle and then stop here for lunch, it's open air as well as tables on the sidewalk under umbrellas, the Cuban sandwich is wonderful. This place is jammed lunch and dinner...best to plan ahead!

Great fish and chic bar! Owned by Sarasota brothers with hip chain of local restaurants...The Shore, Owens Fish Camp, Nancys BBQ, to name just a few! Locals love these cool themed places because their atmosphere's are as well done as their menus! I adore The Shore..it's upstairs over their clothing store on St. Armands Circle... very trendy post modern interior, high ceilings, open air dining in the front, great bar, retractable ceiling in the back for star gazing! Very busy from happy hour on....It's places like this that make it alluring to be in Sarasota!!

I would be remiss if I didn't tell you about Mortons! I classified it under "everything else" because it's a rare gem!! Three generations of local Morton family established a out of this world gourmet market! I grew up here and this is always my "go to" place for prepared fabulous food, appetizers, spreads, sandwiches, cakes, bread, wine and I love their coffee bar!...they have a whole cooler section with fresh daily lunch to dinner selections, plus a hot section with Chefs waiting to greet you! This is Sarasota's Dean & DeLuca, minus the kitchen items...all their items are edible!..well not the flowers! After a hard day playing in surf and bathing in sun...this is the place to go!

The Oasis puts the O-WOW into breakfast and lunch!
I went to Elementary school on Siesta Key where one of my classmates, Melissa, family owned a small winter resort of little cottages that dotted the shore with a main gourmet dining room for the wealthy seeking refuge from the north wanting 5 star food among the swaying palms. Melissa & her husband own the Oasis, bringing the same flare for food to their restaurant, that was passed down to her when Sarasota was just a private mecca for the rich and famous.

Great Mexican food steps from the beach and about a mile from the house, I love this casual place, it's in the heart of Siesta village, has great food and live music nightly, it's got a indoor and outdoor bar and the decor is spot on south of the border...I have it in one of my pictures of "things close by" because it's so charming. A perfect stop from the beach for lunch or dinner in flip flops...Awesome Margaritas!
