Wonderful views on the way up and at the top. In summer you can hike at the top and not know you are near a city. In winter you can ski and snowshoe and iceskate. All year you can eat and drink at the restaurant.

Park your car in Horseshoe Bay - walk onto the ferry and hike around Killarney Lake (2 hours 9 km) then have lunch or dinner at the pub or restaurants - then catch the ferry back. Drive back from Horseshoe Bay along Marine Drive - it's slower but much prettier.

Lovely viewpoint and campsite. This dock was used in the movie 'Double Jeopardy'. Lots of scuba diving out to submerged wrecks here.

This trail goes from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay and is accessible at many points - so it can be broken down into hikes - get dropped off at one place and picked up at another!

It's 5 minutes from the house and you can walk all the way down to Marine Drive crossing just 2 roads - a lovely trail, especially when walking a dog.

You can get the 246 bus westbound to downtown from Montroyal Blvd 50 metres above the house. Or you can take the 246 eastbound and visit Lonsdale Quay Market and take the seabus over to Vancouver. There's also some good brewpubs in the old shipyards that I have yet to explore!! But you should ride the seabus!
