Food Scene
Deptford's food scene is really starting to take off! Here are the places we like to eat and drink nearby.
Central Greenwich is very touristy and the restaurants are not great - with the exception of the Rivington.
I've also included some recommendations for the Cannon Street and London Bridge areas as you might be there on your way to and from the flat.
British restaurant with crisp tablecloths, a gin cocktail menu, mezzanine floor and BYO on Mondays. This is a great, classy place - nice for dates, but also kids eat free!

This is a phenomenal restaurant and we go there frequently because the food is consistently delicious.
From the giardiniera pickles that you can nibble while you look at the menu to the starter or main sized pastas and the inventive mains. All the ingredients really taste of themselves and the menu changes daily. Eat there!
Book in advance to be sure of getting a table.

The food here is great - far better than you would expect from the appearance of the pub. Stay downstairs - avoid the upstairs restaurant as it does not have such a nice ambiance.
Cooked breakfasts here are great, later on, oysters can be relied on and a fab and tasty, modern range of British food. Really highly recommended. Book in advance to be sure to get a table.

Small spot under arches next to Deptford Station. Kitchen is right in the room with you so you kind of take the smell of the place home with you, but the drinks and tapas are brilliant. Lovely staff.

Althought this is a members club/hotel from the Soho House stable, its got a great range of eating options - from great poke to a steak place. It's quite sceney and noisy, but it's very City of London and a great plate for watching the locals!

This is a great place to visit not, in my opinion, because of the art, but because you can visit the site of the Roman amphitheatre. It was on what is now Guildhall Yard and in the basement of the gallery there are the remains of the walls.
