I love train rides and the Heber Valley Historic Railroad offers a selection of four depending on the season. There's a 3-hour ride through Provo Canyon, and 90-minute ride through Deer Creek, and then two tailored train rides for Christmas (North Pole Express) and Halloween (Pumpkin Train). It's a great way to relax, enjoy a bit of history and take in the beautiful Utah scenery.

MDV is a lovely craftsman retreat with an amazing view! They do an outstanding job of inviting locals and tourists to enjoy their grounds, even if we aren’t paying the hefty price to spend the night. Gobble up FREE homemade s’more (offered daily from 4-5 pm on their Vista Terrace during the winter, 8-9 pm during the summer), delicious apres drinks (mulled wine and the like)
AND
Daly’s (be sure to try their Montage Mountain Ale, mac n’ cheese, onion rings and brussel sprouts while you bowl. Yup, brussel sprouts!). A must. Tip: if you visit Daly’s during peak winter weeks, bowl on ‘off’ hours (exactly at 11:30 am opening or 3-5 pm ish); otherwise, you will wait forever: https://www.montagehotels.com/deervalley/dining/dalys-pub/
