They have wonderful baked goods at Essence. But their lunch is also delicious! And it's right around the corner from the condo, so you can just walk over.

This is my favorite restaurant in Phoenix, and one I always recommend to all my friends from out of town. If you want a real taste of Southwest Cuisine, then this is the place for you.

Who said nothing grows in the desert? A visit to our Desert Botanical Garden will show you how beautiful our Sonoran Desert truly is. And their on-site gourmet restaurant, Gertrude's, is AMAZING! During the holidays they have luminarias in the evenings along with live music and drinks (including hot cocoa!).

Located just a short drive from the condo, you'll enjoy the great views from the top of Camelback Mountain. But be sure to wear good hiking shoes/boots. This is a moderate to difficult hike, so proper shoes are a must. Also bring lots of water!

My favorite hike in all of Phoenix! The Summit Trail is an outdoor stairmaster. It's a 1.2 mile hike to the top. You'll quite a workout, but take your time and then enjoy the gorgeous views of the Phoenix Valley from the Summit. There are also many other trails around Piestewa Peak (known to locals as "Squaw Peak"), as this is part of the Phoenix Nature Preserve. Do wear proper hiking shoes/boots please, and bring lots of water.

Taliesin West is a National Historic Landmark nestled in the desert foothills of the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale. It is also the home of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and the School of Architecture at Taliesin.
Wright’s beloved winter home and the bustling headquarters of the Taliesin Fellowship, was established in 1937 and diligently handcrafted over many years into a world unto itself. Deeply connected to the desert from which it was forged, Taliesin West possesses an almost prehistoric grandeur. It was built and maintained almost entirely by Wright and his apprentices, making it among the most personal of the architect’s creations.

Sightseeing
Take a drive up North to the town of Cave Creek for a true Western experience. It's so quaint! And you'll love the drive up as well. I would recommend taking the loop 101 to Scottsdale Rd and heading North. Take Scottsdale Rd all the way North through Carefree where its name changes to Tom Darlington. Turn left (West) on Cave Creek Rd and that will take you to the little town of Cave Creek. Be sure to visit Frontier Town where they have cute little shops, and my favorite candle shop in town too. And if you want to watch bull riding, Buffalo Chip is a great place to go. Good food too, country music, you name it. Cave Creek is a biker friendly town as well. You'll love this place!
