Sightseeing
The Cove is world famous. In the summer it's fun for snorkeling to see the large orange Garibaldi fish. There is also a colony of sea lions. The Cove is also a favorite spot for swimmers who head either for the buoys or the Shores.
The best walk: If you walk east on Virginia Way, after one block you will come to Prospect. Go left to the light at Torrey Pines. Cross there and cross again to the other side of Prospect. You’ll see a tiny parking lot which is the entrance to a trail that leads along the cliffs with views of nesting birds and kayaks. The steps down are under construction so you need to go down the concrete ramp. Beautiful trail!
