Popular bar at the top of Leith Walk (and one of many in the area that have been taken over and given a proper make-over in recent years). Good place for a PINT!

Craigmillar Castle is not so well known, but if castles are your thing, it is a more authentic (and far less commercialised) experience than Edinburgh Castle. Plus it is a lot cheaper to get into!

You are literally below the Forth Road Bridge as it extends into the Firth of Forth just as you enter Sth Queensferry. A small town but very popular with day visitors, and has plenty of cafes and restaurants to check out!

Parks & Nature

Edinburgh's "silver thread in a ribbon of green", the Water of Leith starts at the Shore area and runs right through the city, some 13 miles! Fortunately, you can step into and out of the trail at many points through the city. If you love nature and want some cracking views of Edinburgh along the way DO NOT miss it.

The Botanic Gardens are easy to get to and a fabulous place to spend a few hours wandering. Word of warning about the cafe inthe centre of the Gardens. When it is busy it is a bit of a nightmare getting served!

The building itself is stunningly different, and well worth a look for the exterior alone, but you must at least go inside and see the ceiling in the main entrance! Nice cafe too, serving wholesome food.
