Food Scene
Old Town
Lots to see and do with great food and shopping.
Has great Margaritas and best Mole in town (if you like stronger flavors). Also, is nicely set away from the more touristic spots on the main strip of San Diego Ave.

Great New York-style local pizzeria. Beware! Has attitude but it's well-earned and deserved. Fantastic pizza by the slice. Recommend to eat there, vs. bring home (pizzas don't seem to travel too well). Do yourself a favor and take a stroll down 5th ave afterwards, to get a feel for hip Hillcrest neighborhood

Fantastic sushi restaurant only 5 min walk away! What are you waiting for? It's fun, its hip, it has craft beer, it has killer rolls. Only drawback is that both locals and visitors have found this spot. RESERVATION REQUIRED (call day before, usually works)

This is set in one of our favorite neighborhoods, just a mile away, Mission Hills. It's a really nice walk up (or Uber up and walk back - that's what we do). The Patio is a great restaurant for brunch, lunch and dinner. It's an extensive, attractive bar that's worth a visit, in itself. The food is excellent. Has cheese bar! Very hip and happening (and a bit pricey, but worth it). Make a reservation.

Fantastic decor and 50s atmosphere. Mules are house specialty. Inviting outdoor seating during summer, and killer food menu all year indoors. Get the octopus... you won't be sorry

Parks & Nature
We are literally a stone's throw from it. It's got lots of trails and iconic views across San Diego. Take a left out of the front gate and the entrance is just up the hill - you'll see the wedding photos being taken. Recently, more and more homeless have been congregating in the park, especially the bottom of the park, along Taylor. Just use your street smarts when exploring the more secluded trails
