My favorite pizza in NY, about a 15 min walk. Lots of famous people on the wall for you to take embarrassing photos in front of it (but maybe don't). Grab a plain slice and walk to Washington Sq Park.

If you've never been to a BYOB restaurant and you don't eat french often, sitting outside here is lovely on a summer night. Pick up wine around the corner and loiter in the hushed line on the curb.

Great place to be on a pretty day. Bring a blanket and a book, lay in the grass, listen to the musicians. There are usually performances in the center, and a guy who does sand art underneath the arch.

Fat Cat is my favorite spot in the hood. If you want to experience a random sampling of New Yorkers without feeling conspicuous, go listen to live jazz while you play shuffleboard and drink $3 PBR.
