North Cheyenne Cañon Park is cut 1,000-feet deep into the 1.5 billion-year-old granite rock. North Cheyenne Creek runs along the bottom of the canyon. Visitors can drive, hike and bike from the entrance of the canyon up to Helen Hunt Falls. Beyond Helen Hunt Falls, North Cheyenne Canyon Road continues until it reaches Gold Camp Road.

This incredible city-owned park is truly one of a kind. The site is a National Natural Landmark, having been recognized by the Department of the Interior as "a nationally-significant natural area." It offers towering sandstone formations, a wonderful view of Pikes Peak, paved and unpaved hiking paths, the historic Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, a living history museum, placed on the National Register for Historic Places in 1971, and many other amenities.

Hike the foothills, search for mule deer, and discover Bear Creek! Scrub oak thicket, ponderosa pine forests, meadows, a mountain creek, and abundant foothills wildlife attract children and adults to Bear Creek Regional Park and Nature Center. Interpretive programs, special events, guided and self-guided tours, and media presentations are offered all year. Outside, two miles of self-guiding nature trails wind through the short grass prairie, scrub oak woodlands and cottonwood riparian communities. The nature trails are for “foot traffic only” and pets are prohibited. The regional trails are open to hiking, horseback riding, and pets on a leash.

The 18-hole course has a par of 72 and can challenge even the most experienced golfer. A separate 9-hole course is also available.
