Nature & Wildlife
We love the behind the scenes guided encounters and breakfast with the birds where you also get to hold a koala. I've not been brave enough to do the crocodile arena 'swim with the salties' experience but friends who have done it said it was equal parts thrilling and terrifying but that they'd love to do it again!

Locals power walk along here at dawn to catch the early morning breeze, spot turtles and occasionally dolphins. I'd recommend going early morning or late afternoon to beat the heat. Great lookout points for those iconic Four Mile Beach photos, benches to rest along the way and a couple of water drinking fountains to keep you hydrated make this a well thought out trail.

A heavenly arc of sand, edged by coastal bush. From Hideaway it's a gentle and flat 40 minute stroll to the end of Macrossan street to find bars, restaurants and gift shopping. Keep a lookout for crocs cruising along - we see them sometimes on our dog walks! You can also walk along to some of the resorts that back onto the beach and pop in for lunch or a drink without needing to see a car or a road.

You'll never forget the deep resonant sound of a crocodile's jaws as they leap vertically out of the water and grab onto the food being dangled over the edge of the boat for them.

Eating pizza with your feet in the sandy grass is the way to go at this outdoors trattoria. Big servings and family friendly. A funky tiki hut bar adds to the offering and on certain nights they host the infamous cane toad races. *Be warned if you pull a winning ticket you will be expected to kiss your toad before racing it!
