This is an ancient Greek Roman city, where you will walk on the paths of travellers and merchants like two thousand years ago . Here you will park your car in front of the stunning aquaducts and walk though marketplaces and up to the ancient theatre which is still in good shape. The cream on top of our archaeological walk are the three ancient harbours with very impressive beaches, ideal for swimming and sunbathing.

Rivers give birth to civilisations. Lymros is one of them. Have a morning coffee at a nice café called “Turkuaz Koy” next to the Lymros river and you can also have a snack there before heading to the ancient city Limyra. You will have a great time once you get there. You can relax here under the shade of big plane trees and sip your drinks and have a picknick. The city was built at the foot of the Taurus mountains on a plain where Lymros river deposited all its fertility. The now pastoral city offers a great deal for photographers because the city was once grand, and the the massive stones remaining are scattered all around. Monumental tombs, slope houses, rock tombs, theater are on the slope of the Acropolis. Tip: Take your swimwear with you, because you will probably want to freshen up in the cold water , that runs through the city. Cullinary highlight of this week is “Neseli Balik”. A very good fish restaurant with exquisite tastes for reasonable prices ? Eat like a local in a delightful atmosphere.

Crystal clear water, white sandy beaches, a true wonder of nature is this amazing island. Logically only accessible by boat . You can get there by joining a boat trip, with lunch on board. There will be swimming breaks around the island, which is compared to the Maldives. The only negative thing about this place , is that it is not a hidden gem, so there are many other boats , which makes it extremely crowded in the high season. But it is still worth it to do it at least once. An option is renting a small private boat.

Çıralı Beach The village of Cirali managed to maintain its chilled out vibe, to get to this peaceful beach cove , you drive through winding roads surrounded by a lush landscape. Only 20-25 minutes from The House On The Hill, Olympos. Due to the protection of the beaches for the sea turtles to lay their eggs, the village hasn’t grown to a resort town. So no chain hotels and no mass tourism. This is our favourite beach, just a piece of paradise, crystal clear water to dip your toe in and lush mountain landscape in the background. A small village with narrow streets , where you smell the jasmin flowers from the gardens of the wooden houses. Some of the houses are turned into cute little cafés , restaurants and shops. Our favourite is “Asma Alti “ for sweet treat and a good espresso. It just reminds me the tea garden where my parents took us for a tasty ice cream, when we were children . Simply but nicely decorated with Turkish evil eyes hanging from the trees and wooden tables. Tip : You can also visit “Yanartas”, the eternal flames of Chimera. But it is quite a walk up the hill. Best to visit in the evening ( take a torch with you, in case it gets dark) and if you take any drinks with you to relax after the hike, they don’t want to see the bottles at the entrance.
